DanceSmarts
Our mission at this time for dance is primarily to focus on "non dancers" - meaning actors, singers, and athletes, who are not dancers,
but would like to learn how to dance better.

Fall Offerings
Dance for Actors
This class is focused toward helping actors achieve correct body alignment and placement in dance. Correct use of the body is
needed to properly project and physicality is vital to the story being told. Students will gain a greater knowledge of body
awareness, presentation and space, allowing them to utilize all assets during performance and audition process. Students will
also focus on stretching, flexibility and restrictions of the human body, gaining knowledge of how to prevent injury.
Dance for Singers
This class is designed for vocalists wanting to create a larger skill set. In this class students will become comfortable with
classic choreography movements, including basic steps, turns and trick development, while maintaining proper breathing and vocal
structure. Students will begin every class with deep stretching, allowing maximum movement of muscles and focusing on controlled
breathing; through this routine students learn how to prevent injury and create calm focus before taking on the day's challenges.
Through the course of this class students should feel comfortable and confident walking into a basic dance audition. By allowing
vocalists to become dancers they now have the opportunity to combine skill and excel in different genres of theatre and performance.
Location
Classes and workshops are at the Ruby Slipper Theater, located at 51-C Wright Brothers Ave in Livermore, next to 84 Teriyaki.
