Individual lessons and group classes are available for students ages 10 and up on the following instruments: Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone/Euphonium, and Tuba. Beginning Brass Smarts students typically study from 'Accent On Achievement, Book 1' by John O'Reilly and Mark Williams. Intermediate students study from several materials, including (but not limited to) 'Accent On Achievement, Book 2' and the 'Arban's Method for Trumpet (or Horn, Trombone, or Tuba)'. Advanced students study from a wide variety of materials, which are determined on a case-by-case basis. All Brass Smarts students are trained in the following techniques and practices: Proper breathing habits, embouchure training, correct valve/key/slide technique, staccato and legato tonguing, slurring, lip flexibility, range extension, and sight-reading. |
