A fresh take on one of Gilbert and Sullivan's most popular comic operas, this updated version of "The Pirates of Penzance" took New York by storm when it premiered in Central Park in 1980, leading to a subsequent smash-hit Broadway run. Wacky, irreverent and as entertaining today as it was when it first opened in 1879, "The Pirates Of Penzance" spins an hilarious farce of sentimental pirates, bumbling policemen, dim-witted young lovers, dewy-eyed daughters and an eccentric Major-General, all morally bound to the often-ridiculous dictates of honor and duty. The beauty, wit and whimsy of Gilbert and Sullivan's classic score is suffused with a modern sensibility, making this "Pirates" an excellent production for children of all ages.
The ActSmart Children Theater 2009 program is Monday through Friday, 9AM to 4PM, beginning July 20st and going through August 14th. The camp location will be in Livermore and is To Be Determined. The program is divided into two groups, one for children ages 3-10, and the other for juniors ages 11-17. All performances will be at the Livermore Bankhead Theater. The performances are on August 14th, 15th, and 16th.
The full tuition for the 4 week program is $1300 with a 25% deposit due at the time of registration. The balance is due by July 1st, 2009. Enrollments before December 31, 2008 will receive an earlybird discount of 20% off, bringing the the total cost to $1040 with a deposit of $260 due at the time of registration.
To enroll your child, go to the Registration page, fill out the information, and make your deposit. The non-refunable deposit is 25% of the program's tuition, with the remainder due by July 1st, 2009. Deposits can either be made by credit card (through Google Checkout), or by sending in a check to SmARTSunlimited, P.O. Box 1013, Livermore, CA 94551.
Pre-care and after-care services are available at the rate of $6.50 per hour. Pre-care is available from 6AM-9AM, and after-care is available from 4PM-6PM. Pre and after-care must be signed up for in advance. Sorry, no drop-ins.
